Diabetes in Canada
Diabetes is common, and many people who have it do not know yet. Statistics Canada found that almost 1 in 10 Canadian adults aged 20 to 79 had diabetes, rising to almost 1 in 5 among adults aged 60 to 79. Another 4% were living with prediabetes. Knowing the signs, how blood sugar is checked and what lowers your risk helps you act early, for yourself or for someone you care for.

Source: Statistics Canada, Diabetes among Canadian adults, StatsCAN Plus, published November 29, 2023. National figures for Canada from the Canadian Health Measures Survey, 2016 to 2019. 81% of adults with diabetes were aware of it.
