Why Take a Phlebotomy Workshop in Vancouver, BC
Metro Vancouver’s diagnostic and lab support ecosystem is closely tied to BC-specific standards. Job Bank reports a median wage of $27/hr for medical laboratory technical assistants (NOC 33101) in the Lower Mainland–Southwest region, with a “Moderate” job outlook for 2025–2027. Phlebotomy-adjacent roles are in demand across hospitals, community care, and private collection settings throughout the Lower Mainland.
MTC’s one-day phlebotomy workshop is a fast, skills-focused format for learners who want hands-on venipuncture practice without committing to a full Medical Laboratory Assistant program. It is recognized by CPTG — Canada’s independent phlebotomy licensing body.
Vancouver attracts a large and growing population of Internationally Educated Health Professionals (IEHPs) who need a Canadian-aligned skills refresher. This workshop is also ideal for nurses, PSWs, MAs, and health sciences students seeking a practical, low-barrier phlebotomy upskill.

About the Phlebotomy One-Day Workshop
MTC’s Phlebotomy One-Day Workshop is a hands-on, simulation-based skills course recognized by the Canadian Phlebotomy Technicians Group Inc. (CPTG) — Canada’s independent phlebotomy licensing body. A workshop certificate is issued by MTC upon completion.
This workshop is designed for healthcare professionals seeking to refresh or obtain phlebotomy skills as an added capability within their existing role. It is not intended to prepare students for employment as MLA/T. The practical portion uses simulation arms and medical-grade equipment — no live patient draws. Full venue details are provided upon registration.

What Hands-On Practice Actually Looks Like
MTC uses anatomical simulation arms — professional training equipment that replicates the experience of a live draw.
Under direct instructor supervision, every student practices multiple venipuncture attempts, works through proper technique, and receives real-time feedback before their competency is assessed.
This workshop issues an MTC workshop certificate. It is not a BCSLS-approved MLA program and does not replace full MLA certification. Learners interested in the MLA pathway should visit bcsls.net for approved BC programs.
