Description
Intravenous Administration involves the insertion of an injection or catheter into a vein. This course is designed for health care professionals: Registered Nurses, Registered Practical Nurses, Medical Students, Paramedics, Lab Technicians, Cardiac Sonographers and Respiratory Therapists seeking to Develop their skills in IV insertion and maintenance. It will prepare the candidate with the basic principles required to start an intravenous and maintenance.

- Introduction to the superficial anatomy of the upper extremities
- Basic IV insertion and maintenance principlesย
- Troubleshooting techniques
Course Overview
- โDiscussion of the Intravenous system, IV therapy, Venipuncture procedure and equipment.
- Performing venipuncture on a training arm, securing, and dressing the site.
- Hands-on Practical training on simulated models of IV administration and techniques.
- Dos and Don’ts in Intravenous Administration (IV) procedure.
- Identifying approaches to take to prevent, detect, and minimize complications.
- Document appropriate information in the patientโs record.
- The procedure for discontinuing the IV.
This Course can be either combined with Phlebotomy or IM Course
